FOTD: Purple Glitter

Heyyyyy :),

So now that school is over, I have a lot more time to blog over the break! Last night I went out with some friends and I really wanted to wear glitter. Purple is my FAVORITE color so I played around with my new Sugar Pill "Burning Heart" palette as well as my Coastal Scents "36 Smokey Eye Palette". I love the color pay off of both! I own both BH Cosmetics and Coastal Scents now, and I can say that the Coastal Scents palette seems to have more pigmentation! Of course I always use a base, so that can help if you want to know how to make your colors pop! I picked up the glitter from Hobby Lobby because of Tyme the Infamous from YouTube. Great investment! I also didn't have much time to take close ups but you can see how pretty the glitter is! Well enough rambling, here are the pictures from last night.

How to: Styling my IamMinglee hair

Hi dolls,

As you know I recently had the IamMinglee hair installed and I am in love. I have received so many compliments on the hair and questions about how I style it so I decided to do a mini pictorial so you can see what I do! It only takes me 15 minutes in the morning to curl the hair and even less time when I use flexirods the night before.

Products needed:
 -heat protectant
-styling oil
-curling iron
-clips
-flat iron

(From left to right)

#1: Protect the hair

The first thing I do is spray a heat protectant on the hair. I want the hair to last so I take additional steps to keep it healthy. Treat your weaves like you would your own hair. I use TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray, which you can find at Walmart or any drug store.

#2: Divide the hair into sections
I divide the hair into four different sections, two in the front and two in the back. This will make curling it easier.

#3: Curl the hair
There are different techniques for curling the hair. A favorite of mine is to take a medium amount of the hair and place the curling iron flap towards me. I then curl the hair to the back to create the desired effect. I use a Revlon Perfect Heat curling iron with a one inch barrel. To create a curl with more wave you can either use a large portion of the hair or use a larger barell.

#4: Styling the curls
Usually when I first curl my hair, I like to wear it as it is because eventually the curls will drop. To set the hair, I simply use TRESemme Extra Holding Spray. If I want them to appear more wavy, I will take a paddle brush and brush out the curls.

#5: Flat iron your natural hair
I use a Chi Flat Iron to blend my hair with the weave. To limit the heat you put onto your natural hair if you do have some leave out, simply wear a scarf at night.

#6: Add shine
If needed, I like to use Regis Shine spray, which you can find at your local Regis Salon.

So that is all I do to my hair. To maintain my curls at night, I use flexirods to keep and let them loose in the morning. I will post the pictorial on how I put the flexirods within the next two weeks.

I hope this post was informative. My hair is holding up very well and there isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask me about it :)

Breezy

Initial Hair Review: Iamminglee Snob Hair

Let's talk about hair hunty!

Snob face ^_^

So if you follow me on instagram, @moreaboutbeauty, you would have saw my preview post to hair that I purchased from Ming Lee's website. I have been dying to try some of her hair and I stumbled across a great sale! Normally when purchasing virgin hair, I spend approximately $300 and up. This time, she had a sale on virgin Indian hair for basically half price! [DISCLAIMER: The Indian hair is not on her website at this current time but from her twitter I think she may start to carry it, however I can't verify that. The price of the hair does not reflect the quality!] The hair was half price because her supplier sent her the wrong batch of hair and I'm assuming she just wanted to get rid of it. Her website offers Brazilian hair and Eurasian hair (which is gorg!). This is my first time purchasing the hair and here is my initial review.

Bundles: two 16" and one 18"

Price: 16 in"=$55 per bundle    18"=$65 per bundle

Ounce: Between 3.2-3.5 oz

Wefts: Sealed, very neat!

Color: Natural dark brown

Texture: It appears to be body wave, it was not listed on website.

Packaging: It came in a standard USPS box and inside of the box was her business card and the hair was in a plastic bag, each bundle wrapped individually, unlike her usual individual bag with the business label. Each bundle was wrapped with a rubber band, a hair tie, and a cute pink ribbon at the top.

Shipping: On her website, it listed that it would take between 7-10 business days. This is because the orders go through pay pal. I ordered the hair Monday 10/15/2012, paypal cleared my echeck 10/19/2012, and I received the hair 10/26/2012. The hair took a while to arrive because it had to go through customs (per text message from Ming, #soIknowitsreal !!).

Customer service: I communicated personally with Ming through text messages. She is text friendly and also has a business email listed on her website.

Initial Thoughts: The feel of the hair is very soft and it did not tangle when I ran my hands through it. I did notice that the ends would need some trimming on one of my 16" bundles but the other two were fine. I LOVE the wave pattern of the hair!! The waves were deep and when I combed through it, they remained that way. In the picture above, the ends looked that way because I removed the hair our of the package and had it laying around.

As I stated before, the bundles are 3.2-3.5 oz. I did not weigh my hair but what I can tell you is that normally I receive 4oz of hair. Because the hair was on sale, the oz did not bother me. Hence, why I bought an additional bundle. I can reccommend that if you buy over a 12"-14", that you will need an additional bundle for fullness. Two bundles of 12"-14" will be full enough. After installing the hair I realized that three bundles were enough, even though the bundles are smaller than normal.

Before installing the hair, I always deep condition it! When I ran the hair under water, I noticed that the hair became soapy prior to me putting any product on it. I'm assuming she used a leave in conditioner and it left the hair extremely soft! I deep conditioned the hair anyway though.
How I deep condition hair :
I use Organix Renewing Treatment, which is BOGO at Ulta!.
1. I use a ziplock bag to put the hair in
2. Dampen the hair and add the treatment, put it in the microwave for about a minute
3. Rinse hair, get rid of excess water, and add Organix Morrocan Argan Penetrating Oil.
4. Let the hair air dry

There was very minimal shedding with the hair and no tangles. The hair is on the darker side, so in an upcoming post I will be lightening the hair with developer and possibly dye the ends honey blond. I will also keep you posted on the durability after I dye it, tangles, shedding, etc.

Overall: I give this hair an A+ and I would highly reccommend it. Don't let the price fool you, she did us a favor by offering this hair on sale! Once it was installed, all my doubts were blown away! LOVE, LOVE this hair!

Here are some pics of my first day with the hair. My stylist, Val Anderson, installed the hair for me. The front of the hair was flipped back while the rest is in it's natural state. I LOVE it!! This is definitely holiday hair!

Featured Faces: Homecoming Editon FINAL

Heyyy everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. I have got to get better at posting more! With October ending, homecoming season is over here. I had the pleasure of working on six girls for my little sister's homecoming event! I used an array of products on the girls, so I won't list all of them. I can say that that my BH cosmetic palettes(the 120's) and cherry blossom lashes came in handy and were used the most! I did their eyes and had so much fun doing so! Enjoy the pics :)

Halloween Makeup: Meet Cleopatra!

Happy Monday everyone :)

This weekend my family had our annual costume party! The theme is different each year, and this year the theme was "Super Heroes and Villains"! We encouraged all of our guests to be creative so that there weren't any repeats (which was bound to happen anyway) and there were some interesting costumes. I decided to be the villain Cleopatra! The look was inspired by MsRoshPosh on Youtube! I followed the technique of her tutorial step by step, using products that I had! Enjoy!

Featured Faces: Homecoming Edition Part 1

Heyyyyy,

So I am in no way, shape ,or form a professional make up artist, but I love the art and when asked to do someone's make-up for an event, I jump right on it! It is a learning experience and it helps me with learning how to do different skintones, eyes, etc. October is homecoming month and I have a couple of faces to do(YAYYY!!). First up is my best friend, a student at Bethune Cookman Unviersity. She was Miss United Negro College Fund and got to participate in the annual parade and ceremony at the football game. I was extremely honored to do this for her because it is a huge event in our city and a lot of people would be in attendence. I did her make-up on site which was unfortunately in a parking lot, but hey we got the job done! Pics below :)

HAUL: Mac, Sephora, Ulta, & more!

Heyyy y'all!

Now-a-days I shop for make-up more than clothes. It's my newest addiction. I have waited long enough for a few of these items I purchased; some are a must have for fall and your make-up collection period.

Ulta:
I'm sure you have already heard about the Real Techniques brushes that are sold exclusively at Ulta. Well if not, let me tell you honey these brushes are worth the price and then some! My brush collection is slowly but surely expanding and I won't stop until I have all of the brushes they have to offer. The first brushes that I got were the foundation brush and the stippling brush, both of which I use for applying my liquid foundation. I got them buy one get one 50% off a few months ago and I have yet to put them down. The stippling brush is my FAVORITE because it manipulates the product to an air brush finish! LOVE it! The blush brush was next on my list. It is soooo soft and you only need a little bit of product to get the perfect look. I highly recommend picking these up if you can. I can't wait to get my hands on the core collection.

Real Techniques Blush Brush, $8.99

Also at Ulta, NYX was 40% off!!! I discovered this brand from a couple of blogs that I follow and I wanted to try out more products so I got a few things. The Ulta in the nearest city to me is always sold out of something (-_-)so I didn't get everything I wanted however all of this was under $15 dollars ^_^

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Loose Pearl Eye Shadow (first two)
Shades: Oro Pearl and Orange Pearl, $1.79
NYX Glitter Powder in Apple, $1.79
A few swatches, same order as pics above. No base used on pearl's, glitter adhesive used. on glitter.
I also picked up a few lip liners...
NYX lip liner in Nutmeg, $2.09
NYX lip liner in Sand Pink, $2.09

Another must have are the NYX Jumbo Pencils! They are cream eye shadow base that makes eye shadows pop! I already have the Milk pencil but I picked up a back-up. I also wanted a gold to make my neutral looks stand out a bit more.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Pure Gold", $2.69

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in "Milk", $2.69

NYX Jumbo Pencils, Pure Gold and Milk

A girl can never have too much glitter..

NYX Liquid Glitter Liner, $2.69

For the glitter, I picked up La Splash's Eye Shadow Sealer Base, which wasn't on Ulta's website but it was in the store. I'm going to do a glitter look soon using the glue so I can see how it holds up. So far, so good.

LA Splash Eye Sealer/Base, $6.99

Beauty Supply Store:

Where I live, there is a BSS that sells $1.00 Cherry Blossom lashes. Can you say steal!!! I always pick up five or more a week. Here are a few of my favorites that I got.

 Cherry Blossom lashes:(left to right) #73, #119, #01, $1.00 a piece
[#73 can be seen here]
Cherry Blossom lashes: #747L, #601, $1.00 a piece
No name lashes: #76, 1.99
[#747 can be seen here]
Walmart:
I have been looking far and wide for the Cover Girl Queen Collection because they only sell it in "urban areas". Luckily my city has two Walmarts and one of them had a limited stock of the bronzer "Ebony Bronze". I have seen all of the beauty gurus use it now it's my chance to try it out. At first I thought it would be to dark but it will be perfect for contouring, something I have yet to fully explore. I also picked up a brow sealer from Black Radiance. I normally use Elf's but this one has more product for only a few dollars more.
Cover Girl Queen Collection Bronzer in "Ebony Bronze", $6.49

Black Radiance Brow Tamer in clear, $2.79

MAC, Sephora, and Target:

Last but not least, I picked up a new favorite and my essentials items.

MAC Mineral Skinfinish in Natural Dark is a setting powder for your liquid foundation that mattifies the skin and can be used to fix a foundation if it is not a dead match to your skin tone. When I paired this with my Lorac aquaPRIME face primer and Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray before and after applying my make-up, I wasn't oily for at least 6 hours!! Normally I have to blot my t-zone twice but this has saved my life! *screams*.

The Elf makeup remover wipes take off ALL of my make-up INCLUDING my lash adhesive and lashes. One wipe=all make-up off my face. For only $3, you can't beat that!
(from left to right)
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Natural Dark, $29.00
Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray, retail $12.00 and up
(got it free with my Sephora Beauty Insider points!)
Lorac AquaPRIME, $32.00
ELF Makeup Remover Cleaning Cloths, $3.00

XOXO,
Breezy
